Each student is issued the following:
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARD : One student ID is provided to each student. Lost or stolen ID's will be replaced at a charge of $5.00. Students are required to wear their IDs at all times while on campus. ID cards will also be used as a student's ticket for meals.
STUDENT PLANNER : Each student is responsible for bringing their school provided student planner to school on a daily basis and using it for assignments, appointments, and activities. The planner also contains hall pass, school policies, and other relevant information. If a student loses his/her planner, a replacement MUST be purchased immediately from Student Activities (B105) at a cost of $5.00.

OFF CAMPUS PASS
Any request to leave campus must be made in writing and submitted to the school office before the school day begins. Requests must be signed by a parent/legal guardian and must include the following information:
- Student's Legal Name
- Home Telephone Number
- Phone Number where the Parent/Guardian can be reached
- Reason for leaving campus
- Date/Time of release
- Time student will return to school
VISITORS PASS
For our student's safety, visitors are not allowed on campus during the instruction day unless they are part of a sanctioned activity. MHS welcomes those visitors who have official business on campus. All guests and visitors must report to the school office before proceeding on to the campus. When business is completed, visitors/guests are expected to leave promptly. School assemblies are closed to non-MHS students and staff .
BUS SERVICE
Service is available to students living outside a one-mile radius of the school. Call Student Transportation at 871-2639 (Phone book white pages under Roberts Hawaii Tours).
FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS
Students from families whose incomes fall within certain guidelines may apply for free or reduced price meals. Applications are available from the front office, vice principals, and the Counseling and Career Center located in B-100.
LOCKERS
Lockers are assigned on a first come, first served basis during registration and during the school year. Lockers need locks which must be provided by students. Lockers are school property and are subject to search.
TEXTBOOKS AND EQUIPMENT
Each student is responsible for all books and equipment issued. If books are equipment are lost, stolen, or damaged, the student must pay the full replacement cost of the item(s). Obligations still outstanding at the end of the senior year may result in the withholding of a student's diploma and/or the privilege of participating in graduation exercises. Seniors must clear all obligations prior to graduation.
PARKING PASS
Each student will be allowed to purchase one pass for the school year. Students must provide proof of driver's license and vehicle registration along with their application. Passes can be transferred from one vehicle to another, provided the vehicle is owned by a family member and it has been registered with the vice principal prior to any transferring. If passes are lost or stolen, students will be allowed to purchase replacement passes. All vehicles parked on campus must have a current, valid parking pass is visible at all times. Students are to park only in the designated student parking lot. Students must observe all traffic rules:
- Speed limit on campus is 5 mph.
- No parking along the front driveway, in staff parking lots, handicapped parking stalls, and along the gym service road.
- Vehicles must be parked within the parked stalls in the direction of the traffic to prevent accidents. Drivers must obey the traffic routing in the parking lot, especially the one way traffic flow patterns.
- Students are not to loiter in their cars upon arriving to campus. The parking lot is an out of bounds area during the school day to ensure that cars are not vandalized.
- Student parking lot will be secured and locked each day at 5:30 PM. Vehicles left in the parking lot will be locked in until the next workday and will be considered as unauthorized unless administration is notified.
CHAPTER 8-57: Restitution for Damaged and Lost Books, Equipment, Supplies and Outstanding Financial Obligation
This rule holds students accountable for lost and damaged textbooks, library books, equipment, supplies, and financial obligations. Chapter 8-57 defines consequences for students with outstanding financial obligations to make timely restitution. In addition to any penalties that may be imposed, a student who fails to make restitution under this rule, shall be prohibited in participating in any student activity. These activities include, but are not limited to athletics, academic clubs, service clubs, hobby clubs, proms, class banquets, May Day, and other organized festivals/celebrations for which no academic credit is received. This means that seniors will not be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies, and underclassmen will not be able to participate in any student activity for the next school year if their obligations are not met.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
The Maui High School master schedule is based on student requests from registration forms. The number and types of classes scheduled are based on the number of first choice requests. It may be difficult to change classes because many courses will be filled and closed. The only types of program course/changes that will be considered are:
- Duplication of courses
- Homogeneous grouping changes
- Graduation requirements
- Incomplete schedules
- Summer school course completion
- Failure of a course
- Early admissions / Off campus requests
- Same teacher for a repeated course
Important: When selecting your courses, fill in all open course slots on your registration cards. Pick courses carefully, because the alternate choices you make may be classes you will be assigned and you may not be able to change courses next year.
REGISTRATION POLICIES
- Part-time Schedule - A student will not be permitted to have a part-time schedule without the written consent of his/her parent and the principal. If you are working part-time, a written verification is required from your employer.
- Double registration in English and Social Studies - A student will not be permitted to register for more than one course in English and Social Studies each semester. Transfer students from another state which requires only 3 years of social studies classes for graduation may double register in social studies classes (check with counselor first).
- School Service Courses - School service will be offered for no credit.
- Concurrent Registration - Concurrent registration for a course and the required prerequisite course will be permitted with the approval of the instructor.
- Participation in Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) Sports -A student must be enrolled in at least four (4) academic courses in order to be eligible to participate in MIL athletics.
- Equal Access - Students have equal access to courses, programs, and services of this school without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age .
- Early Release (Off Campus) - Only students (Seniors) who submit a letter of verification from an employer and permission from their parent/ guardian will be allowed to indicate Early Release on their registration. Employer needs to verify employment every thirty days.
